The realm of Education holds on to a perpetual dream of the School of Tomorrow. But most often, such dreams remain dreams. When buildings go up first, ideas come only as afterthoughts; very few good ideas are intended to fit inside four walls.

WHEA is a living model of education for tomorrow. The ideas came first, and since 1994 have been tested and proven by teachers and students. WHEA is now ready to put up a school around big global ideas. We have a very good mind's-eye view about how it might be designed, what curricular models it should employ, and how it would be governed and managed. We are, in a word, ready.

This is our vision:
1) A meaningful and personally relevant education in real-world settings, including extensive community outreach.
2) A campus design using "green" buildings and modules.
3) Teachers and students employing educational concepts proven to work with academically challenging, hands-on tasks.
4) Service to a larger educational audience providing a replicable model for Project Based Education, not just for science and technology, but for Humanities as well.

The Explorations Foundation is a newly established 501(c)(3) Non Profit supporting educational innovation. Its goal is simple: To build a model environmental education center to benefit the Kona Community, and Hawaii.
